The T'Sou-ke First Nation solar village is now, according to CBC, the "the largest solar energy producing community in B.C." The First Nation has completed the largest outfitted 25 homes, a the fish hatchery, a community hall, a band hall and a canoe shed with solar thermal units. The three areas involved in this project are (full info on the Solar BC site):

  • solar thermal units (installed with the help of Home Energy Solutions);
  • solar hot water units (installed with help from SolarBC Registered Installers Taylor Munro)
  • a conservation program (developed by the community with City Green, and the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources).

The project is important also because almost all of the work was done by community members, which provided a hands-on training opportunity, and now a teaching opportunity as the community is in the position of being able to train others.
